At the moment we use http://www.dropzonejs.com for drag & drop of attachments.
We could get paste functionality in a easy way after this issue is resolved https://github.com/enyo/dropzone/issues/331

On https://github.com/enyo/dropzone/issues/331 they discussed about it in 2013 and the last update was 8 month ago.
I am not sure if they still exist and will fix anything.

I will not close as this is a useful feature request that might be implemented in a future version.

dokuwiki has this in core. works much better than above mentioned plugin ever did

scratch my previous post, it is a plugin in textarea.
It does work in Chrome, Firefox and Opera, not in IE or edge

tested with chrome 66

+1 for this feature. It would save a lot of time. On macOS you can take a screenshot to the clipboard with Command-Control-Shift-4, to be able to paste it right into Mantis would be great. Otherwise, you have to go to the Desktop, find a file with generic name, etc.

Just pulled latest version of this PR - still not working in Safari.
