Yeah that may work for now, however it is cumbersome to install all that (including "plugin manager").

Plus I think it would be a nice and easy to add feature to the standard Mantis installation.

I think Plugins installation will be possible in Mantis 1.2 natively.

I need this feature too and I hope it will be included in the next release. The LongCF doesn't seems to work with version 1.2. I tried to install and it fails

Sang, hopefully in 1.2 we'll get a chance to support LongCF natively. IF not in 1.2, it'll be in a git repository shortly after.

I need this too.
I've the LongCF plugin on http://deboutv.free.fr/mantis/ [^]
After installing this plugin regular with the pluginmanager its not working with version 1.2.0a3 :(
