| Summary | 0003513: Make the first item in the category list non-selectable plain text and require the user to chose an item. Dub request:subcat | ||||
| Description | I just added a special character of "-" and "Please Chose a Category" text to make it appear first in the drop down. It would be nice that this item not be selectable and require the user to select a category. I would like to request auto populating sub category drop down lists as well. Thanks! and great job Mantis team! | ||||

0004002 (and 0003300 referred to by it) deal with being to set up defaults. This issue is asking for the ability to force the user to select a value (i.e., no defaulting allowed). See 0004102 and 0004933 for more similar requests. |

This issue is not reproducible with the current version of MantisBT. With appropriate settings in config_inc.php (i.e. category is mandatory), when reporting a new issue the category field shows '(select)' by default and a value must be picked from the list. We recommend that you upgrade to the latest stable version [1]; if after doing so the problem persists, do not hesitate to reopen the issue, with additional relevant information.
