Installing Instant Mantis

To install Instant Mantis download the InstantMantis.zip file (about 22MB) from here. Unpack the file to your hard disk (or USB drive) and start the Instant Mantis server by double clicking imstart.cmd. A Windows NT Command window (DOS window) will open echoing messages that start the Apache web server and connect to the MySQL database (see figure). This is a pre-configured version of Apache and MySQL using non-standardized ports. To stop the Instant Mantis server double click the imstop.cmd file.

Once the Instant Mantis server is up and running, start the browser and type in http://localhost:8008 to reach the Mantis home page. The default login is the same as the standard Mantis installation: administrator/root. Be sure to secure your install.
