| Summary | 0005229: ability to switch view to a subordinate role | ||||
| Description | during development of a site; i am continually switching between an administrator view to make changes to custom fields and settings, and viewer/reporter/etc views to confirm the views look as desired. to accomplish this, i presently need to logout/login a huge number of times. | ||||
| Additional Information | i am proposing that while logged in; the "actual role" is set, but an additional "adjusted role" is selectable (pulldown) from the "actual role's" subordinate roles. the rendering could proceed based on the "adjusted role" setting. this could be turned off as needed: "adjusted role" <- "actual role" | ||||

For my debugging, I use phpmyadmin (or equivalent) to change my access rights in the database directly. Fast and simple with no debug code added to Mantis. |

good idea, thanks! i will leave the ticket open, as several managers are still forming what they want from their reporters - i fear opening the phpmyadmin door to them ;~) |

Going to mark this as resolved - after 9 years, pretty sure this will never get implemented. What's more likely in the modern world is you'd run a different browser/virtual machine to log in as the subordinate role. For the number of times mantis configuration is going to be changed, trying to implement this would probably be more of a risk then just using a different VM/browser to test :) |
