Query to create dashboard

Hello All,
I am new to Mantis and want to create a graphical dashboard like you see when you click on Summary.
I want to have a bar or pie chart displaying all issues active/open status (excluding closed) against a custom field department/team.
I know how to create the custom field but I don't know how to create a graphical dashboard the one shown in summary.
Any assistance will be highly appreciated.
