New ticket e-mail notification sent from user's own mail address

Hi,
I'm using a very old Mantis version (1.0.: yes I know I should upgrade it but I tried to upgrade some times and the upgrade failed, and for this reason the upgrade activity is on hold since few months.
My users are receiving an e-mail confirmation whenever they creates a new ticket, but this e-mail is sent from the user's e-mail and not from the Mantis e-mail address (which is configured into $g_from_email).
Could you help me to understand where I'm wrong?
