Not sure if this is the place to post a suggestion. I've been using Mantis to track our customer support issues and the custom fields are great! We have several such as Customer Name, Phone number, ect.
One thing I see is that Mantis builds an array distinct values for each of these fields for the filter page. This is fine as long as the list is small. However, over time this list will get incredibly large and it is cumbersome to pick from a list at this point. Plus there may be serveral values that are the same, but possible misspelled. We would like to have all of these results returned, not just one spelling.
A nice enhancement would be to have a config value called $g_filter_items_per_field that can be set to a default value of 25 or so that when the distinct values grows over this limit, have the filter page give the user a keyword search field instead of a drop down. The keyword search could allow wildcard characters. Also have the keyword search for the description, summary, and other built in fields.
Suggestion: New filter variable $g_filter_items_per_field

Sure, thanks for getting back so quick. Reported here: http://bugs.mantisbt.org/view.php?id=5917
I may have time to make the customization myself and post it here later. Shouldn't be too much work to make.
