Trying to backup the Mantis Tracker system

Post by edisontrent90 »

Hello,

I am attempting to backup my Mantis tracking system data completely and comprehensively. Could someone please suggest the easiest and quickest method to accomplish this endeavor?

Currently, I am in the process of backing up the application database; however, I am unsure as to the possibility of the action also backing up the complete system information (and thereby accomplishing my primary objective).

Your kind and professional advice regarding the issue is urgently requested. I express my heartiest gratitude towards whosoever may come forward and resolve my dilemma.

Thank you,
Trent

Backing up the database is enough if your attachments are stored in database.
Please use Search before posting and read the Manual

To completely backup Mantis, the database state must be saved. In addition, you should back up the following files or directories:

the upload directory, if Mantis is configured to store attachments on disk;
the config_inc.php file
any other custom files, like custom_strings_inc.php or custom_constant_inc.php

It very much depends on which DB you are using.
For Mysql/mariadb, just google on "automatic backup mysql database".

Rather than creating a backup of specific files, I suggest to make a full backup of the application itself
So the whole wwwroot or htdocs drectory in addition to the location where you have configured to store the files belonging to the various applications.

There are plenty of tools available, see here:

Webmin is very suitable to manage all our backups.
