It seems that the public/private flag determines if the project shows up in the pulldown list, but what does the project "status" (development/release/stable/obsolete) control?
what does the project status control?

Re: what does the project status control?
so why is it there?
If it is not used for anything, it just adds needless complexity to the defect entry page, and people always are going to conmplain about wanting to make defect entry as simple as possible.
I vote it should be removed (or at least hidden) if it is not needed/used.

Re: what does the project status control?
The project status is not part of the defect entry page. This is just an indication of the maturity of the project, something like the license (e.g. GPL). I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing.

Re: what does the project status control?
sorry, I was confusing myself.
thinking of too many things at once when I made the post,
and I mentally merged a defect status and a project status

Re: what does the project status control?
Is there a way to hide/disable it? It is not needed in our use case scenario
Re: what does the project status control?
Not out of the box, simply ignore it.
