Without having a backup rollbacking would be a lot of work because database schema changed from 1.1.8 to 1.2.x
IMHO it's better to invest the time in getting 1.2.2 to run.

But you should never change config_defaults_inc.php because this file will be overwritten when updating.
You have to add the lines that you want to change to file config_inc.php

Does the standard Mantis have the support for i5/OS and DB2? According to documentation DB2 should be supported, but I am pretty sure that there are just a few users using it. There is an layer between MantisBT and database (called adodb). Maybe if you update just this part of MantisBT your problem...

If you want a quick solution, use the "Send a reminder" functionality that I mentioned as a workaround. The users you choose are also added to the monitoring list.

I tested in my 1.2.1 installation and the real names are displayed at "Users monitoring this issue"
Also when using "Send a reminder" I get a list of the real names.

Realnames are displayed instead of usernames if you add the following line to file config_inc.php

I still don't have another idea than using a custom text field for it.

With current version of MantisBT this can't be done with customization.
You would have to change source code in file bug_report_page.php
There is a plan that MantisBT will support this feature in future versions.
