What do we use Mantis for (Bugtracker, Help Desk, ...etc):
Bug Tracker
and
Project Tracker (using basically a custom language file we have completely customized Mantis to provide project document storage system to keep all minutes, datasheets, test results etc for a project
The two systems are separate Mantis installations with separate databases
Opinion about Mantis :
Excellent. Best I found which is of course why we use it.
Favourite Mantis Feature(s) :
Simple to use. Bugzilla was overly complicated and badly presented on screen IMO. If it was too difficult to use our userbase (who range from programmers to technical support to sales/support) wouldn't have used it.
Simple to work on. The PHP code is quite well written and although not heavily commented, I find it very easy to understand and make customizations. |

What do we use Mantis for (Bugtracker, Help Desk, ...etc):
Bug Tracker
Opinion about Mantis :
Great tool. Well organized. Easy to install and use.
Favorite Mantis Feature(s) :
We like the project focus. Specifically we like the ability to save documents, assign permissions, customize catagories, and to create announcements, at the project level.
We were using a proprietary help desk tool (BridgeTrak 4.0) that lacks these features. |

Hi Ken & Mantis team,
Just wanted to send a note to congratulate you and thank you for a wonderful bugtracking system!
We're a small software company, and can't afford outrageously priced bugtracking software sold by giant companies. Some of us used to use those when we worked for big companies ourselves - however we found them to be cumbersome, and confusing.
We looked at several open source bugtrackers over the past 2 months, and found Mantis to be the nicest looking, easiest to use - yet very powerful bugtracker.
What's more -- we were able to customize it for our organization in one night, due to the excellent design.
Mantis is awesome. Keep up the great work!!
Warm Regards,
Mike

What do we use Mantis for:
Mainly as a bug tracker for software development
and web design, but also as a support tool like
a job ticket system. We also use it for general
task allocations within the company to make sure
things don't get forgotten.
G'day from Australia!
Like many other Mantis users we are also a small
software company and Mantis helps us implement
good software development procedures without the
cost of the commercial systems.
We love Mantis because it is so simple to use, and
is very client friendly (yes we even let our customers
use it!)

Job Title: Game Administrator
Company name: Forgotten Kingdoms Mud
Company URL: http://www.forgottenkingdoms.com
Mantis version: Mantis 1.0.0a2
What do we use Mantis for: We use it to keep track of bugs and enhancements for our game.
Opinion about Mantis: LOVE IT! We were using bugzilla, and had it off site on a friends server. That server went down and when we went to reimplement bugzilla on one our hosts servers, we realised it was going to be an installation nightmare. I was able to install Mantis and have it configured in a couple of hours. I had my team using it within an hour after that. Some of the team members hated bugzilla and didnt use it properly as a result. Bugzilla while powerful, was poorly organised on screen, hard to use and understand, and detered the less technical minded on my team. Mantis was instantly easy to use for all levels.
Favourite Mantis Feature(s):
The colourisation, it makes it very easy to see what bugs need addressing for the right groups.
I love how simple it was to install and configure.

What do you use Mantis for (Bugtracker, Help Desk, ...etc)
We use Mantis for Issue tracking on our customer projects. It basically replaced our custom MS Access and MS Outlook based bug tracking systems which we had built in-house.
Opinion about Mantis
We absoloutely love this application. It is easy to use, easy to customize and provides great performance.
Favourite Mantis Feature(s)
I think the custom fields functionality is great as we have a lot of variation between projects. |

What do we use Mantis for (Bugtracker, Help Desk, ...etc):
Bug Tracker and Feature Scheduling Tool
Opinion about Mantis :
Excellent. We started using Bugzilla, but our users, especially the non-tech ones, hated it! Mantis is so much more popular. We were thinking of getting one of the cheap commercial ones, but there is really no reason to!
Favourite Mantis Feature(s) :
Screendesign. E-Mail alerts. Assigning and tracking bugs. Prioritising bugs. Statistics. Easy to use and explain.
Features we'd love:
Easy SVN integration. A way of keeping track how long a developer worked on an issue. An easily customisable external view for external clients. |

Opinion about Mantis :
We weighted our options carefully (researched more alternatives) and got lucky, Mantis is super!
Favourite Mantis Feature(s) :
E-Mail alerts. Assigning and tracking bugs. Prioritising bugs. Statistics. Easy to use and explain.
Features we'd love:
A features for registering Planned vs. real hours ... |
