Making mantis more private

Post by rsoft »

Hello all :D
I have 15 developers in one confidential project and when one issue submitted on my mantis, it is directly assigned to one developer.
I want other developers cannot see this issue in any pages and only the handler can view and handle the issue.
Naturally, I want the manager can see all issues and can assign the issue to one developer.
How can I do that?

waiting for your help.

There is no configuration option for it. You would have to change the source code.

What's the reason that you don't want developers to see all issues of a project?

Hello dear Atrol and hank you for your all time supports ...
It's the request of one of my project managers here.
He wants that, when assign an issue to one of his developers, other developers cannot see that issue.
I (by myself) do not agree that, but he insist for that.
So, can you advise me about changing source code for that?
I think, I can define a new configuration parameter for that and for this project only (in configuration page) change that parameter. Then check it in all pages about issues.

I understand what he is asking for

This is no reason to implement anything.
I am really interested to know why this is needed.

Invest time in implementing a feature where I don't see that it makes sense until now?
I have hardly any time to support development that will never make it's way into MantisBT standard.
It can't be done in a few minutes. There are a lot of things to consider, e.g. roadmap page, SOAP API, relationships between issues, monitoring functionality, how to deal with issues where developer A has been assigned in a first step and developer B in second step, ....

Hello dear Atrol
and thank you for your support.
I totally agree with you about that. (disagreed with implementing this feature in mantis) because of effecting on team working and knowledge sharing.
I think, he has some problems with his staffs and he want they do not know about tasks of each others!! (I personally don't like work environment like that)
It seems that, this idea is not good for implementing in mantis.
I answer him to ignore his request or he can develop new software for him.
So, after all, thank you for writing your point of view and ...
kind regards :)

I am quite sure that the staff has also problems with the manager. ;-)
You can't solve such kind of problems by hiding information.
