login issues on new install

[I've checked other posts and this issue seems to be slightly different from others that I've read, so I'm posting it as a new topic]
Hi. I'm installing Mantis on my local MAMP server for the second time. The first time,the installation process went off without a hitch - created a database and all went well. But my user/password weren't recognized. So I deleted the Mantis database and re-installed Mantis and reset the user/password. All seemed to go well but my user/password are still not recognized AND, this time, no database was created. If you have any ideas what the problem might be or how to fix this, I'd be grateful. I'm using Mantis 1.2.19 (the latest version); I have a Mac 10.9.5; I'm using a MAMP server (Apache, MYSQL, PHP) and Sequel Pro (to access my databases). Pics attached (showing everything working fine, which it isn't!).
