Custom Field Configuration and Display

I am setting up a custom field that is a string, and I am struggling to make the field display as I would like for it to. On edit/update of the issue information, I would like for my custom field to display as an expandable text box that word wraps. Instead, it is displaying as a one line text field that does not word wrap. Due to the length of notes that the user will need to enter, allowing for word wrap and full display will be much more user friendly.

Essentially, I would like my custom field to display the same as the stock Add Note field on edit. I am not sure that I am describing this in the best manner, so I will attempt to provide further information/clarification if needed. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

Mantis Version: 1.2.0

Really?
We fixed hundreds of bugs since that version (also security related)
I recommend to update to latest stable version (1.2.17 at the moment)
