How to upgrade from a Reporter to an Administrator?

Post by ArnoldCF »

Hi, I'm new with this program, and I haven't understood how this program works. I've already created a new user in the BugTracker page, but I appear as a reporter and i want to be an Administrator because I'm starting a new project and I want to keep track on bugs and thos sorts of things. Can someone please help me by telling me how to do that upgrade to my acount. By the way I'm the only one on my team using Mantis.
Thanks.

Login as administrator
Goto page "Manage" > "Manage Users"
Click the link on the username you want to change
Change to administrator in section "Edit User" row "Access Level"
Click "Update User"
Please use Search before posting and read the Manual

How can I log in as an administrator? My account is only for a reporter. I can't create an account with Administrator acces, I've already tried. Yesterday I created my account for the first time, I'm the only one on my team who is using mantis, no one knows how to use it, no one has try to use it but me, and I can't upgrade an accoun because I'm only a reporter, that's my default charge.

Quite confusing, you wrote
I've already created a new user in the BugTracker page
You have probably access to your installation as an administrator.

I haven't installed anything, I just created my account in the mantisbt page and that's all. I didn't install mantis. When I created my account I appered as a reporter, and I can't change that; and in my view are issues that I don't know why they are there, they just appeared, I have not been able to create a project nor erease the issues. I know is confusing, but I don't have any help I'm on my own, btw thanks for the help you are giving me.

What do you mean with "in the mantisbt page? Is this a MantisBT installation which has been setup by another person/company?

No, nobody but me is working or trying to work with mantis. A friend of mine recommended me mantis because he uses it; I just google mantis and I came across with the mantisbt.org page, I entered in the part where says "bugtracker" and I created my account, that's all I have done till now.

Ok, now I understand:
You created an account at http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs

http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs is just one of thousands of MantisBT installations worldwide.
This installation is used to track bugs for MantisBT itself and some MantisBT plugins.

You have to setup your own installation if you want to track issues for one of your own products.

I recommend to read some parts of our administration guide to get an impression of the concepts.
