403 Forbidden Message - Don't have permission on this server

Post by ipsomatic9 »

Hey all!

I was just using Mantis two days ago with no issues.

Then I showed up to work and when I try to log in with either the default admin info or my created user, I get this error message.

"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /mantis/login.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Every file in the mantis directory is set to 755. I'm hosted on Dreamhost. I've turned off the extra web security and even down graded my php version from 5.4 to 5.3 and that didn't see to work either.

They can't help me other than to say that my error logs say:

"[Wed Apr 10 05:28:06 2013] [error] [client 12.248.40.138] client denied
by server configuration", etc.

And there comments are:

"It appears that your script isn't being allowed to run on the server for
some reason. This may have to do with the php version you are running in
the panel. You might want to try changing the versions or consult with
the software developer for further advice."

This seems crazy since I was just using it two days ago and I don't think anything has actually changed with my configuration. But the bummer is, is that all my work tasks are stored in mantis and now I can get to them.

Please help!

Do you get the same problem with a fresh installation?

If your provider is not able to fix the problem there is at least one option to see your data again.
Export your database, choose a new provide, import database, ...
Please use Search before posting and read the Manual

Sorry for not keeping up with this. I did eventually get access back. It was a matter of security settings on the files in my server. The bummer is that now (until I get a resolution) I can't have a .htaccess file as generated from my host. Everytime I opt in and one is created in my directory, I gain password protection but lose access to scripts for Mantis! Bah!!!

ANNNNND... when I have one generated, I can't open it to edit it to see what might be goofing Mantis up (which is the current source of contention betwixed myself and Dreamhost support). :-)

Thanks for your reply though, atrol!
