Help Implementing a Plugin

I'm using Mantis 1.2.11,

I've edited some of the Mantis source code to provide the desired functionality but it would be ideal to implement this functionality as a plugin.

I've never created a plugin and can't find any relevant information for creating plugins for mantis. Can someone help and point me in the right direction please!?
