"New" goes directly to "acknowledged" status

On Mantis 1.2.10.
I have the problem that when I use "Assign to: " to assign a task to a devolper it automatically goes to "acknowledged" status. I would like it to go to "assigned".

To fix this I went to Manage -> Manage Configuration -> Workflow Transitions and tried various options.

1. Under WORKFLOW - "Current Status" "Next Status" I put the Default Valie for New to "Assigned":
New ....... "Assigned"
This did not help. Mantis seems to ignore this.

2. I tried un-ticking the "acknowledged" box. This did nothing either.

Why are my custom settings ignored? Any idea?

I seem to have solved this myself...posting it here in case others have the same problem.

The settings in Manage -> Manage Configuration -> Workflow Transitions are apparently not relevant for the "assign to" function. The "assign to" is governed by the "Status to set auto-assigned issues to" setting in Manage -> Manage Configuration -> Workflow Thresholds.
