API to Monitoring Issues

API to Monitoring Issues

Is it possible from php to add users to monitor a specific Mantis issue?

Related to this would be is it possible from php to access Issues and their various fields? For example to grab information from an issue named Issue-A so that you could add a user to the monitor list of a specific Mantis issue.

This seems to boil down to is there a PHP API into Mantis.

I've seen MantisConnect but it seems to need so many subcomponents and building of different things to use it. Is that the right tree to be barking up? Or are there other APIs directly into Mantis?
