Usually when I enter a mantis, I use 'simple report' mode.
Sometimes however, halfway though entering my mantis, I realise that I need to switch to 'advanced report' mode. The problem is that when the 'advanced report' form loads, all the details I have previously entered are lost!

So could you do one of the following please:

  1. copy any data I have already entered in the simple report over to the advanced report.
  2. warn me (configurable popup*, enabled by default; can be disabled in preferences) that this will reset the form - any data already entered will be lost.
  • text along the lines of (Button1 should have focus):
    Warning
You are about to switch to the 'advanced report' form; any details you have already entered will be lost. Do you wish to continue?

Button2=Switch to advanced report form

If a mandatory field is empty a popup should alert the user and the submit button should be disabled.

Is there any hope that this feature will be added? I would definitely consider this a bug. I know Mantis has tried to shy away from using Javascript and such, but to not use something in this case puts Mantis behind the market of any type of web application.

The specific problem with the browser losing forms contents when pressing the back button has been fixed in 1.2.x and 1.1.6 (see issues 0009323 and 0009869). The problem of actually needing to rely on the back button is altogether another issue, and is covered better by 0009813.

As the specific problem reported has already been solved, I'm marking this as a duplicate.

JReese,

I just updated to the latest stable... 1.1.5 and as expected it doesn't work. When will 1.1.6 be available for stable release?

Edit: I wanted to point out I am still using Instant Mantis. It was easy to upgrade to 1.1.5 ... if you would like, I can write the steps I took to do so in the article on the wiki, but I would need permissions or I can email it to someone on the dev team.

Thanks,
Jarvis

JReese,

I am still using Instant Mantis, I updated all the source to 1.1.6 today. I tried to go report a bug and change my view. It still failed to keep the information from each page. I thought you stated this was going to be fixed in 1.1.6??

Any information would be helpful! We're getting close to a decision and this could hold us up.

Thanks,
Jarvis
